21-year-old Ahmira is one of the many entrepreneurs who took matters into her own hands during Covid-19 by creating Ashisdope. An intergalactic themed lip gloss brand, which launched on June 30 of this year.

When asked what motivated her to start she stated,
“I needed money and was struggling to get hired for jobs and got tired of employers telling me “we’ll keep you in mind” or “we’re looking for this right now, maybe next time” so I decided to start my own business because it’ll be something I actually enjoy doing, so it won’t feel like “working” plus I don’t have to listen to anyone but myself.”
The native ATL-ien created her glosses mainly for female/feminine young adults, but is planning to become unisex in the future. After trying the lip glosses myself, I honestly couldn’t be more in love, they come in a range of different colors, yet still appear as a clear coat. However, if you would like more pigment, the squeeze tubes allow you to deposit as much color as you want in layers. The vials they come in make me feel like royalty with a gold or special pink cap and a shimmer. I have seen many lip gloss brands but never in the style that Ashisdope has.

Ahmira describes her brand as “accessible but original. The materials used can be used by anyone” however her ideas are what curated them and make it hard to mimic.
“I put a lot of care into my glosses from cleaning to sanitary protection (i.e. gloves, masks) to packaging. There’s room for me to reach the level of packaging/quality I want only because I’m an over the top person, but where I am now is my version of standard quality.”
Like many others, she says, the pandemic has helped her business grow. She doesn’t have a car, but she doesn’t let that stop her. Thankfully, there’s at-home pickup/delivery options available to help her run her business smoothly. Currently, Ashisdope only offers nationwide shipping for the United States.
Ahmira’s goal is to make herself and other people happy with her ideas and creations.
“There’s a lot that goes on in my mind and I love thinking about different concepts and themes so I hope the amount of detail I put into my work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
It certainly didn’t, I highly recommend supporting this small black business. The prices are affordable starting at only $3.50. For the quality, this price is definitely a steal.
